Look across seven days, not one ideal Saturday

Write the next seven days in a row. For each day, check whether these care functions have a realistic place:

• comfortable toilet access;
• appropriate movement;
• engagement and social contact;
• rest and recovery;
• time alone that this individual can manage;
• health, medication, grooming, or mobility needs that apply to this dog;
• a person who can take responsibility when the expected plan breaks.

This is not an hourly schedule. It is a way to see whether the same function disappears whenever work runs late, the lift fails, or the usual helper is unavailable.

Find the day with the narrowest margin

Your hardest day is often more informative than your busiest day. It may be the day with a long commute, a fixed appointment, poor outside access, or no second adult available. Circle the first care function that becomes uncertain on that day.

Do not solve every part of the week at once. Name the earliest break point clearly. “Tuesday is hard” is vague. “There is no confirmed person for the midday toilet trip if the train is delayed” can be acted on.

• ask a veterinarian or qualified behavior professional when the issue involves health, pain, distress, or safety.

The fallback should preserve the function. It should not replace movement with a toy, toilet access with water restriction, social contact with background noise, or professional care with an online rule.

Mark the hardest ordinary day in the coming week. Choose the first care function that becomes unreliable and write one named backup beside it, including who, when, and how building access will work.
